We know that getting outdoors is hyper-critical for the summer, especially given the last few months of quarantine.
At this time, USTA PNW and RecTennis feel confident that we can deliver fun and affordable tennis back to our communities this summer. We are excited to announce that we plan to resume Summer Tennis Camps (at select locations) – in alignment with all Federal, CDC, and state safety guidelines as well as local authorities and community and park partners – beginning the week of July 6 (June 29 in Anchorage).
We will be reaching out again in the coming weeks with a finalized list of active locations. For those of you who signed up for June camps already, please read on below.
Refund Policies & Rescheduling
If you previously registered for one of our summer RecTennis programs scheduled to begin prior to July 5th, our team will reach out to you individually to reschedule to a later date. If this is not possible then a full refund will be issued. Thank you for all of your support and understanding during these times
Safety Protocols
The health and safety of our staff, participants, and community remains our #1 priority. We are honored to have your trust, and as the challenges posed by COVID-19 continue to evolve, we want you to feel assured we are doing everything we can to support the safety and well-being of our entire community.
As we get closer to the start of our camps, you will receive specific safety guidelines on what we are doing to keep our participants safe and what you can do to help. These guidelines will be based on the latest CDC and federal guidelines as well as state and local authorities and community and parks partners. Meanwhile, to follow is an outline of the actions and precautionary measures we are taking to reduce the risk of spread during our RecTennis programs this summer, including:
What to Bring
When preparing for programs, please remember to bring your own:
*As always, we will provide racquets to anyone who wants/need one. No need to buy one. However, this year each camper will be issued a racquet on their first day and are asked to take it home with them each night. The racquet should be returned on the last day of camp for adequate disinfection.
We can’t wait to get back out in the sunshine and out on the courts with the campers this summer.

The COVID-19 pandemic is creating challenges for everyone across the globe. American tennis players are asking for guidance regarding the safety of playing tennis, especially when social distancing and space sharing issues are now paramount.
Based on the recommendations of the USTA COVID-19 Advisory Group, the USTA believes that it is in the best interest of society to take a collective pause from playing the sport we love.
Although there are no specific studies on tennis and COVID-19, medical advisors believe there is the possibility that the virus responsible for COVID-19 could be transmitted through common sharing and handling of tennis balls, gate handles, benches, net posts, and even court surfaces.
As a result of this, the USTA asks that as tennis players we need to be patient in our return to the courts and consider how our decisions will not only affect ourselves, but how our decisions can impact our broader communities. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to stay active and healthy with at home exercise and creative “tennis at home” variations. We look forward to our return to tennis in a safe manner and will provide updates as new information becomes available. By practicing all the recommended guidelines presently put forth by our medical experts, that return will happen in the soonest possible timeframe.

This afternoon at 12:30PM ET, USTA released an official statement, effectively suspending all events through April 20, 2020 throughout the US. The health and safety of our participants is our number one priority at all times and we have made the decision to follow the lead of USTA and many of our local school and community partners.
Effective immediately, we have cancelled all remaining Winter and upcoming Spring RecTennis programming due to concerns surrounding the continued spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
If you have already registered for one of our Spring RecTennis programs, full refunds will be issued as soon as possible.
At this time, we plan to continue with our summer season programming as scheduled. However, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and make any needed adjustments to align with the local school schedules.
For any questions or concerns regarding this, or any other issue, please contact your local Regional Manager.

Dear RecTennis Participants and Families,
The United States Tennis Association Pacific Northwest office has been and continues to work closely with local and national partners to continually monitor the ever-evolving situation associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Our greatest priority is the safety and well-being of our participants, families, staff, volunteers, schools, and tennis community.
Based on the latest information, we currently aim to continue RecTennis programs as planned. We are actively working with each school and community leadership. Should a school or community space close, or not allow after-school programs at their site, we will cancel our programs and notify all registered participants.
However, we encourage you to consider all the facts available to you when deciding whether to participate and to do what is right for you and your family, including taking all appropriate precautions advised by the CDC and other local authorities. To that end, if you decide to not participate in an open RecTennis program, we will work with you on identifying a future tennis playing opportunity, if available.
-Sneeze or cough into a tissue or upper sleeve
-Wash your hands with soap and water frequently (for 20 seconds or longer), or use hand sanitizer if soap and water is not readily available, especially after sneezing or coughing
-Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashing hands, and wash your hands promptly if you have touched your eyes, nose, or mouth
-Limit close contact (e.g., hand-shaking, hugging, kissing) andd avoid sharing food, drinks, or towels with people, especially with people and animals who are sick
-Clean and disinfect obejcts and surfaces
If you have any of the symptoms during a RecTennis program (including but not limited to runny nose, headache, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, fever, lower respiratory symptoms), notify your RecTennis Site Director and seek medical guidance. If you have any symptoms in general, stay home, do not play tennis, and seek medical guidance.
– Remaining available at all times to answer your questions or help provide information.
-Encourage everyone to use preventative practices to protect yourself and others. Reiterate the importance of handwashing and hygiene procedures per CDC and state health guidelines.
-Ongoing communication with local and national partners, city partners, and local school districts. USTA PNW leadership connecting daily to communicate and monitor updates.
-RecTennis staff will not come to a RecTennis program if they experience symptoms or have been in close contact with someone with symptoms. We ask that participants do not attend a RecTenis program if you experience symptoms or have been in close contact with someone with symptoms.
-We will continue to provide communication updates and make any necessary schedule changes if needed. Should COVID-19 appear at a school or community center where RecTennis programs take place, we will follow the lead of the school or community center as well as notify participants that the RecTennis program has been canceled.
